5 Days Mount Kenya Lenana peak trekking is trekking one of the second highest mountain of Africa, which is a strato-volcano mountain created 3 million years ago.

Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and a the second highest mountain in Africa, after Mount Kilimanjaro. Highest peaks of Kenya Mountain are Batian at 5,199 m, Nelion at 5,188 m and Lenana at 4,985 m.

Moreover, Kenya Mountain is a strato-volcano evolved over 3 million years ago. The scenery surrounding around the mountain is a World Heritage Site.

The Mountain is located in East – central part of the country and around 150 km from the commercial city of Nairobi.

As a result, Mt. Kenya, Africa’s second highest peak is regarded as the realm of Ngai, god of the local Kikuyu people. Traditionally, all Kikuyu home were built to face this sacred peak. They call it Kirinyaga, or place of light.

However, the Mount Kenya trek is through forest, wildlife, bird life and beautiful vegetation. The treks range from a day trek to 7 days trek.

(4,985 m) in a leisurely fashion from a non-tourist route. The climber has a better chance of acclimatizing and getting fit for the attempt on Pt. Lenana.

5 Days Mount Kenya Lenana peak climb is for those mountaineers who have an adventurous spirit and want to ascend Pt. Lenana, (4,985 m) in a leisurely fashion from a non-tourist route. The climber has a better chance of acclimatizing and getting fit for the attempt on Pt. Lenana.

Day 1
Lodge to Naro Moru Gate

Morning spent sorting and organizing personal equipment for the trek. Be driven to the road head of the Naro Moru trek to the Met Station where we spend the night in the mountain log cabins. A good day for acclimatization, altitude of 3050 m. A light hike is taken in the afternoon to help acclimatization.

Day 2
Mount Kenya Trekking

Hike up to the Teleki valley to our Mackinders Camp where there is a spectacular view of the main peaks. Walking time approximately 4-6 hours. Overnight Mackinders Camp (4,150 m)

Day 3
Mt. Kenya Trekking

After an early breakfast, begin the circumnavigation of the main peaks by heading north. One traverse takes us below the south and west faces on our approach to Two Tarn Hut then across Western terminaland into Hausberg Valley and finally over Hausberg Col and into Mackinders Valley. Walking time proximately 5 hours. The highest point reached this day is 4,500 m. Our camp in Mackinder valley is at an altitude of 4,300 m. Night will be spent in high altitude tents.

Day 4
Mount Kenya Trek

Alpine ascent of the third highest peak Pt. Lenana up the north faces little used by tourists. The top

should be reached after about four hours of stiff walking. Altitude of Pt.Lenana is 4985 m.

We then descend into Teleki Valley and spend the night at our original camp completing a scenic traverse of the Mountain.

Day 5
Descend Mt Kenya to Lodge

Descend from the Mountain to Met Station and be transferred to the Lodge.
