5 Days Mount Kenya Sirimon is trekking one of the second highest mountain of Africa, which is a strato-volcano mountain created 3 million years ago.

Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and a the second highest mountain in Africa, after Mount Kilimanjaro. Highest peaks of Kenya Mountain are Batian at 5,199 m, Nelion at 5,188 m and Lenana at 4,985 m.

Moreover, Kenya Mountain is a strato-volcano evolved over 3 million years ago. The scenery surrounding around the mountain is a World Heritage Site.

The Mountain is located in East – central part of the country and around 150 km from the commercial city of Nairobi.

As a result, Mt. Kenya, Africa’s second highest peak is regarded as the realm of Ngai, god of the local Kikuyu people. Traditionally, all Kikuyu home were built to face this sacred peak. They call it Kirinyaga, or place of light.

However, the Mount Kenya trek is through forest, wildlife, bird life and beautiful vegetation. The treks range from a day trek to 7 days trek.

Day 1
Lodge to Sirimon Gate

Morning spent sorting and organizing equipment for the mountain trek and be driven to the Sirimon gate. An easy 3 hrs walk through equatorial forest to Judmaier’s Camp (3,300 m) for overnight in the high altitude mountain tents.

Day 2
Mount Kenya Trekking

Ascend the Sirimon Track to Likii North Valley and camp overnight in this beautiful little valley below the subsidiary peaks of Teleki and Sendeyo, two ancient parasitic vents of the main peaks.overnight at liki north camp in tents (3990 m)-Full board

Day 3
Trekking Mount Kenya

Climb out of the North Valley and into the Mackinders Valley, one of the broadest valleys on the

mountain, with many giant groundsels. Camp at the head of the Mackinder’s Valley, just below the main peaks of Batian and Nelion (4,300m).- Full board

Day 4
Mt. Kenya Trekking

Alpine ascent to the highest peak, Pt. Lenana (4985m). En route up the north face little used by tourists. Four hours of stiff walking to the summit. Then descend to Teleki Valley on the opposite side of the main peaks, to Mackinder’s Camp for a good night rest (4150m.) Full board

Day 5
Descend Mt. Kenya to Lodge

Descend to the Met Station (road head) on the Naro Moru Trek and back to the Lodge.
