Mgahinga National Park
Mgahinga National Park is national park in the southwest of Uganda. It was established in 1991 and Mgahinga National Park contains a size of 33.9 sq kms.
Additionally, Mgahinga National Park is situated in Virunga Mountains. It consists of three inactive volcanoes, namely, Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga and Mount Sabyinyo.
Moreover, The altitude of the park is between 2,227 to 4,127 meters and is part of the River Nile. The Mgahinga National Park is connected to the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga National Park in Congo.
You can reach the park in about 15 kms by road south of the town of Kisoro and approximately 55 kms by road west of Kabale, the largest city in the sub-region.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is a part in the southwest of Uganda. Therefore, the park is part of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest that extends through to Congo, next to Virunga National Park.
Furthermore, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is around 321 sq kms in size and only accessible by foot. The park is also part of the World Heritage Site.
Apart from Gorillas, you can see around 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds and 220 species of butterflies. you can also view 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species.
As a result, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park has around 400 Bwindi gorillas, half of world’s population of endangered mountain gorillas. The park also has chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, hornbill and turacos birds.
